List #3: Things to see/do when you visit Nashville

My brother is in Nashville for the first time this week, along with his wife and our cousin. He said he wants to see “everything.” While that’s not possible, here are some must-see tourist sites.

1. The Parthenon replica at Centennial Park

2. Broadway/Downtown

3. Bluebird Cafe (famous singer/songwriter venue, shhh…no talking)

4. The Station Inn (bluegrass meeca)

5. Robert’s Western Wear (historic country/hillbilly/americana bar & boot shop)

6. Hatch Show Print (still operating letterpress poster shop)

7. East Nashville 5-Points (eclectic shopping, dinner, bars, live music & coffee shops)

8. Hillsboro Village (upety shopping & dinner)

9. The Gulch (I highly recommend RuSan’s Sushi)

10. Go to a Bongo Java (our most popular local coffee chain)

11. Drink a Yazoo (the best Nashville beer)

12. Bicentennial Mall/State Capital

13. Riverfront Park & Fort Nashboro

14. Cannery Row (Mercy Lounge)

15. 12 South district (Mafioza’s, Rumours art bar, Frothy Monkey)

16. 8 South district (Zanies comedy club & post-modern antiques)

17. The Rutledge (rock venue with the best live sound)

18. Southern BBQ (pulled pork sandwiches…Hog Heaven, highly recommended)

19. Bobby’s Dairy Dip

20. Meat & Three (I can’t think of the name of a good one at the moment)

21. Opryland Hotel (there is an indoor river and 4 or 5 “regions” among other features)

22. Ryman Auditorium

Responses

  1. There have been neither lists nor rants here since November. I, for one, am dissapointed.

  2. I was wondering if anyone would ever notice. I have some more. I’ll post them soon. So sorry.
