Nuggets from Eames

I found these beautiful quotes from Charles Eames, everyone’s favorite mid-century architect/designer, while flipping through an old Neenah paper samplet.

1. Q: Can design be used to create objects reserved solely for pleasure?
“Who would say that pleasure is not useful?”

2. “Toys are not really as innocent as they look. Toys and games are the preludes to serious ideas.”

3. “Take your pleasure seriously.”

4. “The details are not the details…” “The details make the product.”

  1. yay Eames! he’s cool. too bad we don’t do Herman Miller furniture [sorry, i’m a Knoll girl here!]. however, we do have a similar chair to this, and i used to sit in a chair like his more famous…leather swivel chair. anyway…yay! i’m excited to start reading your posts!
