List #65: Beautiful Things at Nate & Kala’s Wedding

Saturday afternoon I had the privledge of attending the wedding of Nate and Kala West in Kentucky. I designed their wedding invitations and I was so happy to see how beautifully everything came together. The invitations were designed with minimalistic typewriter type and rust-colored trees and leaves and tied with pewter ribbon. You can see them via my design site here.

1. 162-year-old  family home with very interesting history

2. Rustic hand-drawn signs (and notice all the paper lanterns in the trees?)

3. Candles all throughout the pathways

4. This chess set in the house was pretty cool

5. The weather vane on the outhouse

6. The outhouse is beautiful in it’s own way

7. A clothesline full of photos

8. Maggie Moo is a beautiful dog, in a scruffy beardy kind of way

9. The wedding ceremony area with white chairs and arch

10. Cake

11. I think Jason and I make a beautiful couple. 🙂 I love that guy so much!!

12. My brother- and sister-in-law, Dan and Ginger, are beautiful too.

13. The bride and groom of course!

14. This antique typewriter was such a cool idea. They had this in mind before they asked me to design the invitations but I really love how it tied everything together.

15. Jeremy and Leila: a couple of the most beautiful people I have ever met. I am so glad that God brought them into our lives several years ago.

16. The sunset was gorgeous and the most perfect shade of amber to accent everything at the reception. The whole day was perfect weather too. Sunny but not hot or cool with a slight breeze.

17. There were paper lanterns hung throughout the trees all over the property with battery operated LED lights. (Brilliant idea!) They were pretty while it was light out but really beautiful once the sun went down.

18. The paper lanterns were also hung in the tent.

19. Even the trees were spotlighted for this special day.

20. Fireworks! No “live” picture sorry but trust me, they were beautiful, and the perfect diversion for the newlyweds to sneak out at the end of the reception. As the fireworks ended, they honked and drove off down the driveway towards their Alaskan honeymoon and a lifetime full of many more beautiful memories.
