List #96: What’s New

It’s been a little while since I’ve updated so here are some recent happenings:

1. I’ve been updating my other blog East Nashville Atomic a lot! And I started a new Flickr gallery for ENA.
Jason and I are always on the lookout for mid-century modern treasures. This past Saturday we bought a vintage vinyl and wood footstool from someone on craigslist. We also found exactly what we were looking for at the salvage yard for an outdoor project we’re planning—decorative concrete block! Two Saturday’s ago we went thrift store hunting and came home with only a small yellow lamp. It still needs to be cleaned up and we need a shade for it, so no pictures yet!

I’m so thankful that Jason enjoys collecting MCM things as much as I do! We have a lot of fun “hunting.”

2. I’ve been Suppressing the Mess!
I’m working on a website for a professional organizer called Suppress The Mess. It’s a fun project and it’s been going well. Here are the 3 initial comp designs I sent her:

3. God-Cake-Steelers!
I know, I know…the Superbowl is old news. Sorry! I few weeks ago I came across this silly GoD-Fence cake on Cake Wrecks. I forwarded it on to some friends including Jeremy who happens to love—like really, really love—the Steelers, cake and God! So, I made a promise that if the Steelers made it to the Superbowl, I would make a Steelers GoD-fence cake. It was sweet and delicious (as was the game):

4. I’ve been taking random pictures of Nashville
I always catch awesome views of the city as I’m driving around, especially at sunset. Even though the photos that I take while driving come out terrible, I keep trying. One of these days I’ll stop the car and get out… By the way, the really bad ones are from my camera phone.

5. Jason put shelves in this cupboard!
I’m overly-excited about this! I wish I would have taken a before show. This huge cupboard is next to our stove and since we moved in 2 years ago it hasn’t had any shelves. The massive stacks of bowls, pans, strainers, ice tea pitchers, pots, cutting boards, etc. frequently poured out onto the kitchen floor in a domino affect whle I was trying to retrieve something. After much complaining, Jason finally put shelves in last weekend. Yay! I LOVE organization!!

6. Monday night Ladies Bible Study
On Monday nights I’ve been doing a Bible study led by my mama with a group of ladies I hardly know. It’s been really fun to get to know each other, delve into the subject of prayer and spend time praying with each other and for each other as we go through The Power of the Praying Woman study by Stormie Omartian. I really got a lot out of her book The Power of the Praying Wife. So far I’m not liking this one as much but the group time is great.

7. Grace Church, Lindell Cooley, worship ministry and small group
Jason and I have been going to Grace Church for some time now…about 2.5 years. We’ve just recently joined a small group again. It’s been great to get into deep fellowship and make some new friendships as we have a weekly time of bible study, prayer and often potluck dinner together, too. Jason has started playing guitar with the worship team on occasion. We really love our pastor Lindell Cooley! Jason and I both feel like we’re learning so much and growing more than we ever have in our walk with the Lord. If you have an hour, watch one of the videos on the website. It’s amazing teaching! John Ragsdale’s messages are awesome too.

8. Waterside is playing tonight!
The show is at Exit/In at 8:00 pm (I think). Waterside is playing at 8:30. It is a benefit concert for To Write Love on Her Arms.* Some VIPs from our favorite record label are coming out to the show tonight so I’m praying they all enjoy it as much, and even more than they have in the past. God’s timing is always perfect with these things so we’ve surrendered all of our plans and hopes and dreams into his hands!

*I just saw on the website that it’s a benefit for Feed the Children. Hmm, someone has their info wrong. I’ve been advertising it as a benefit for TWLOHA so if I’m wrong, it’s not my fault! Either way, it’s for a good cause. 🙂
